Throughout the history of heavymetal, there have been bands that were ******* to follow trends, and those whoswore allegiance to a single genre, but only a select few that chose to blaze apath of their own. For the past 21 years, While Heaven Wept have committed tonothing but heart and soul, resulting in melodic, deeply emotive, intelligentmetal that spans numerous subgenres, defiant of categorization.
Early intheir existence, the band, along with a handful of others, contributed to the very definition of `epic metal, yet WHW havelong since developed a sound entirely their own. The current lineup can beconsidered something of a supergroup, consisting of past and present members ofwell-respected underground luminaries such as Twisted Tower Dire, Solstice (UK), Altura, Brave, October 31, and Revelation. With their Nuclear Blast debut, Fearof Infinity, While Heaven Wept present their most aggressive and incrediblybeautiful album to date, featuring all the hallmarks of the "WHW sound" - sweeping dramatic soundscapes juxtaposed against crushing epic melodic metal, overflowing with emotion. Strangely familiar, yet like nothing else, this is thesound of heaven weeping.

Wordscannot describe just how much this album impacted
me personally. The music isa perfect combination of slow and
brooding
doom metal with traditional metalelements and power metal/progressive metal vocals.
The lyrics are intriguingand genuinely chilling, the musicianship
isstellar and the overall sound of the album can only be described
asEPIC!! Im as surprised as anybody
to find this one on the top of my 2011
metal list, but what can I say...Its
awesomebrilliant::
